Table Seating Guide

How many guests fit at each table depends on the table type and whether you're doing a formal seated dinner, a casual buffet style, or a cocktail hour. Use these numbers as your starting point — when in doubt, go slightly under capacity so guests have elbow room.

Table TypeDimensionsComfortable SeatingMaximum SeatingBest For
Round Table (60")60" diameter8 guests10 guestsDinner receptions, seated celebrations
Banquet Table (6ft)6ft × 30"6 guests (sides only)8 guests (sides + ends)Buffets, gift tables, candy bars, long seating rows
Cocktail Table (High-Top)30" diameter, 42" tall2–3 guests4 guestsMingling, cocktail hours, standing receptions
Pro tip: For a dinner-style event, plan for 8 guests per round table (not 10) so everyone has comfortable elbow room. For buffet-style events where guests will be moving around, you can seat closer to the maximum.
Chair covers & linens: We offer white stretch spandex chair covers and white highboy cocktail table covers if you want an elevated, elegant look. Ask about them in your quote!

Tent Capacity Guide

Tent capacity varies depending on whether your event is a formal seated dinner, a standing cocktail reception, or a mixed setup with a dance floor or buffet area. The numbers below are practical guidelines — always account for tables, a serving area, and space to move around comfortably.

Rule of thumb: For a comfortable seated dinner, allow about 10–12 square feet per person. For standing/cocktail events, 6–8 sq ft per person works well. Always subtract space for any buffet tables, a DJ setup, or a dance floor.
Don't forget: String lights are included free with every tent rental — no need to add them separately!

Seating Arrangement Options

The way you arrange tables dramatically affects how many guests fit and how the event feels. Here are the most common layouts and how they work in each of our tent sizes.

20×30 tent6 tables · 48–60 guests

Round tables create an elegant, social atmosphere — guests can see and talk to everyone at their table. Best for seated dinners, birthday parties, and receptions.

20×40 tent12+ cocktail tables · 100–120 guests

Ideal for cocktail hours, networking events, and open-house style parties. High-top tables encourage mingling while giving guests a spot to set drinks and plates.

Round tables with dance floor layout diagram

Round Tables + Dance Floor

Seated dinner with open space for dancing

20×20 tent3 round + dance floor · 24–30 guests
29×23 tent3–4 round + dance floor · 24–40 guests
20×30 tent4–5 round + dance floor · 32–50 guests
20×40 tent6–7 round + dance floor · 48–70 guests

Setting aside a dance floor reduces your total seating but adds energy to the event. Reserve roughly a 10×10 to 12×12 section — then fill the remaining space with round tables. Best for quinceañeras, sweet 16s, and receptions.

Theater style row seating layout diagram

Theater / Row Seating

Chairs in rows facing a focal point · no tables

10×20 tent~40–50 guests
20×20 tent~60–80 guests
20×30 tent~90–110 guests
20×40 tent~120–150 guests

The highest capacity option — chairs only, no tables. Perfect for ceremonies, graduations, presentations, or speeches where guests are focused on a stage or speaker. Usually paired with a separate cocktail or dining area afterward.

Planning a mixed event? A popular combo is round tables for seated guests + 2–3 banquet tables for the buffet/food station + 2 cocktail tables near the entrance for drinks. We can help you figure out exactly what you need — just ask in your quote.
